The Girl at the Bottom of the Wishing Well

The girl had been walking for hours, it seemed like days. She was thirsty and her feet were sore. She had been walking through the desert, trying to find her way home. But she was lost. And now, she had come across a wishing well. It looked old and abandoned, but the girl was so desperate that she decided to try it anyway.

She leaned over the edge of the well and peered down into the darkness. It looked endless. She couldn’t see the bottom. Suddenly, she felt something give way beneath her feet and she began to fall…

Down and down she went, faster and faster. The walls of the well whizzed past her as she fell deeper into its depths. She tried to scream but no sound came out. She felt herself start to panic as she realized that there was no way out. She was going to die here if someone didn’t find her soon…

Suddenly, she landed with a thud at the bottom of the well. She lay there for a moment, winded and disoriented from the fall. Then she sat up and looked around her new surroundings.

It wasn’t dark anymore like it had been at the top of the well; instead, it was lit by a soft light that came from all around her. And it wasn’t empty either; there were objects strewn about haphazardly: an old shoe, a broken toy soldier, a wilted flower… It looked like somebody’s trash heap.

But then she noticed something strange: every time she blinked, one of these objects would disappear, only to be replaced by another in its place moments later. It was as if they were being endlessly cycled through some unseen force..! As if this place was somehow connected to people’s wishes…!
