Shannon had always wanted to be a journalist, ever since she was a little girl. Her father had been a successful journalist and she was determined to follow in his footsteps. After he died, Shannon was even more determined to make her dream come true. She worked hard in school and got good grades, which landed her a job at the local newspaper. She was thrilled when she was given her first major assignment – to write a story about life in the inner city. However, when Shannon started researching for her story, she quickly realized that the reality of life in the city was far different from the dream she had imagined. The streets were dirty and dangerous, and people were struggling just to get by. With the help of her new friend, a street-wise teenager, Shannon came to understand the harsh realities of life in the inner city. And despite the danger, she decided that she needed to tell this story. It was important for people to know what was really going on in their community. With courage and determination, Shannon finished her story and it ended up being one of the most talked-about pieces in the paper that year. She had finally achieved her dream – but it wasn’t quite what she had expected.
