The Determination of Gender by DNA
All living things depend on deoxyribonucleic acid, also known as DNA, which is a double helix found in chromosomes. There are 23 pairs in a human: 1, 2, 3… 20, 21, 22, and Y/X.
Your natal (birth) gender is determined by Y and X. (X and X for females and X and Y for males). The father of the new-born defines its biological gender as having either X or Y.
