Animal Farm is a novella written by George Orwell. Published in 1945, it’s a satirical allegory that uses a group of farm animals to illustrate the events leading up to and during the Russian Revolution of 1917 and the early years of the Soviet Union. The animals revolt against their human owner and establish their own society, only to find that the new leadership becomes just as oppressive as the humans they initially rebelled against. The story highlights themes of political corruption, propaganda, and the dangers of totalitarianism. Each animal represents a different aspect of society, and the book serves as a commentary on the nature of power and the potential for abuse.
