  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven while preheating.
  2. Prepare the dough: In a large bowl, combine 1 teaspoon of sugar and 2¼ teaspoons of active dry yeast with 1 cup (240 ml) of warm water. Stir until combined and let sit for 10 minutes or until foamy. Add 3 cups (360 g) of all-purpose flour, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, and ½ teaspoon each salt and garlic powder to the mixture. Knead together by hand or using an electric mixer with a dough hook attachment for 7–10 minutes until it forms into a smooth ball.
  3. Let the dough rest: Grease a separate bowl with olive oil and place the dough inside, rolling it around until all sides are lightly coated. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let sit in a warm area for 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Prepare your toppings: While the dough is rising, prepare your desired pizza toppings such as sauce, cheese, meats (like pepperoni), vegetables (like onions and peppers) etc… You can also make a white pizza by omitting tomato sauce and adding garlic butter instead.
  5. Roll out the dough: Place the risen dough on a lightly floured surface and roll it out into a circle about 11-12 inches (28-30 cm) in diameter.
  6. Add the toppings: Transfer the dough onto a greased baking sheet or pizza stone and spread your desired sauce, cheese and toppings over it. If you want to add herbs like oregano or basil, sprinkle them on top after everything else has been added.
  7. Bake the pizza: Place the baking sheet/pizza stone with the prepared pizza into your preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes until golden brown and bubbly around the edges.
  8. Enjoy!: Let cool slightly before slicing and serving!
