Algebra is a branch of mathematics that deals with equations and unknown values. In this tutorial, we will cover the basics of algebra and equations, including how to solve simple algebraic equations and how to manipulate equations to isolate certain variables.

To start, let’s look at what an algebraic equation looks like. An algebraic equation is an equation that contains one or more variables, which are represented by letters like x, y, or z. For example, the equation “2x + 3 = 7” is an algebraic equation because it contains the variable x.

To solve an algebraic equation, our goal is to isolate the variable on one side of the equation. In other words, we want to get the variable by itself on one side of the equation, and everything else on the other side. To do this, we can use a few different techniques.

One technique is to use the opposite operation to cancel out terms on one side of the equation. For example, if we want to isolate the x in the equation “2x + 3 = 7,” we can subtract 3 from both sides of the equation to get “2x = 4.” Then, we can divide both sides of the equation by 2 to get “x = 2.”

Another technique is to use the distributive property, which allows us to multiply a number by a group of numbers by multiplying the number by each individual number in the group. For example, we can use the distributive property to simplify the equation “4x + 2(x + 3) = 10” by multiplying 2 by x + 3 on the left side of the equation to get “4x + 2x + 6 = 10.” Then, we can combine like terms on the left side of the equation to get “6x + 6 = 10,” and finally we can subtract 6 from both sides of the equation to isolate the x and get “6x = 4” and “x = 2/3.”

These are just a few examples of the techniques you can use to solve algebraic equations. In this tutorial, we will go over these techniques in more detail and practice solving a variety of different equations. By the end of this tutorial, you should have a good understanding of the basics of algebra and equations, and you will be able to solve simple algebraic equations on your own.
